Moving house? Let me lend you my razor blade

Oh please help me out here. I am about to explode with anger, frustration, irritation and loathing at the hateful, back stabbing, mean spirited, downright bloody rude behaviour of the people buying our house. And to top it all I left all prescription drugs at home today and have no razor blades handy (that's an attempt at dark humour - I am still fairly stable).

Just when we thought It was going to happen and I had moved us all in, chosen the carpets, worked out where the sofas were going (should I get new covers? no probably not till the kids are older), these excuses for human beings want a socking great sum knocked off the price. They have us cornered and they know it. We desparately want the house we have found, but we can't do it without the full price we agreed with our buyer. We are, technically, screwed.

Him indoors and I are trying to stay united, but it's tough. It's a blow. It's winded me.

So much for Dry January. Tonight Threshers may have their best sales yet.

  2. Can they do that? Are you not able to re-market the house or is that a daft question? Sorry, I'm not very good on house buying.

    Take care and keep smiling.

  3. You can play double bluff and just tell them it is not acceptable, the deal is off. This will only work however if they are in the same situation as you, ie desperately want your house and are just pushing their luck.

You would be amazed at how people will back down in the face of adversity.

    Good luck!

  4. Tell them you can't do that. . . and find new buyers! Talk to the people you want to buy from and see how long they can wait for you to find a buyer (at a decent price) for your home. . .

  10. Bastards! Hope they're just bluffing. I am an absolute ponce about these things, but friends of mine who play hardball always seem to get good results, so stand your ground. Best of luck!

  11. This is a fab. witty and wry blog, glad to have found you! Don't ever apologise for TV, I swear those that say they don't let their kids watch it are lying. Or have an au pair.

  12. NWBI: I know, I am a total wimp. Fortunately husband has a decent pair of balls. So might still be hope.

MH: Thanks so much. That's made my day!
