Insult my children and feel my wrath! (& Little Film Club prompts)

Morning all!

Wasn't that just the best weekend? Don't know about you but in my little part of the world the sun was on full beam and it was like proper Summer.

So I was in a great mood until my Nanny arrived.  I am not going to work today as sadly I have a memorial to attend.  The husband of a very good Mummy friend.  It is a sad day, I have no idea how she will get through it.

I was in a pensive mood, no doubt my toddler picked up on this and was unusually clingy.  It's fine for me to say that, and it's fine for me to get a bit annoyed when she doesn't want to play on her own but wants me to play with her.  But it's absolutely NOT fine for my nanny to point out her failings.

"I've noticed when there's an adult around she needs them to play with her, she's not very good at amusing herself is she?"

"Well actually she's very good at that sometimes, when I've been around for a while and she knows I'm not about to disappear off to work, she's very good at amusing herself"  (for this read: how f**king dare you even think about insulting my child's ability to amuse herself which suggests a lack of imagination.  She has imagination by the bucketful if some of her getting-Mummy-to-do-what-she-wants tactics are anything to go by).

When you add that to the lady in the lift at the shopping centre on Friday:

"Oh no she's pressing all the buttons now, how annoying"

"But you're getting off on the first floor so it won't really affect you will it"

"No, but for anyone else it's really annoying"

"Er, right but there's no one else in this lift"

Then when the toddler made a dash for the door as we arrived at the first floor:

"Hahahah, you wouldn't want to take her on the underground would you! hahahaaha"

"Well actually we lived in London until 2 months ago and she went on the underground all the time and was extremely well behaved. " (ok that's actually a blatant lie).

And then, because I am fundamentally a child:

"So there!"

I can point out her 'challenges' but woe betide anyone else who dares to do this.  Surely all mothers feel this?  I'm not alone am I?

Anyway on to Little Film Club prompts, if you don't know what this is, please read this:

Just 2 this week, to make it really easy.  If you do take part please tweet it, stick the badge on your blog, talk about it on any social network you care to.  We need to spread the word to make it work!  I have to say though the 'founder' members are brilliant and are doing a fine job of keeping the momentum up as we head into week 4.

Discovery:  inspired by my baby's new found ability to crawl. Backwards.  Anything that says discovery to you, to do with children or not.  Just something you discovered recently perhaps.

Happiness:  I know we've done this one before, but happy prompts make the best films in my humble opinion.

Now get filming.  Remember you can link on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

xx
