If I had a £40k windfall...

At the moment things are a little tight in this Mummy's house. What with him indoors re-training to be a teacher and our eye-watering childcare costs we are having to tighten a few belts here and there.  This is all good discipline and it's wise to examine what you are spending every now and then to cut out the fat.

So imagine this.  Every time you make a purchase using Paypal, you are automatically entered into a weekly draw to Win £40000 as a year's salary. Anyone with a Paypal account will be in with a chance of winning £40,000 by simply buying anything using PayPal, and the more times you buy, the more chances you get. It's a weekly draw too.  Find out more here and Enter now for your chance to win.

So how would I spend £40,000 now?  Well the obvious and boring answer is I'd pay off a chunk of the mortgage, that's almost certainly what I should do. But my heart would be far happier putting a deposit down on a little cottage somewhere near the sea, Suffolk perhaps, that we could all escape to for weekends.

But Paypal set me a challenge. To create a shopping list of 5 things I'd buy with the cash.

First up would be a new bikes for us all, Eliza is just about old enough for one now and mine have seen better days. I'd get those from Halfords.  Seeing as I'm not a Toyologist I'd spend a fair old whack in Toys R Us for my kids and for childrens' hospitals, friends' children adn other people who wanted them. Since I am writing this having just run 7.2km and I am now training to run a half marathon (I know, I'm amazing) I'd definitely get some new trainers and a super duper pedometer from Nike. Now that him indoors is studying again he could really do with a new laptop so I'd go to Dell. So there you have it, not quite 5 things but I think I'd be set with those things and a chunk of the mortgage paid off, I guess if there was any loose change I'd nip over to Woolworths.co.uk and stock up on stocking fillers and Christmas decorations. I really miss Woolies, don't you?

What would you spend it on?
