Saturday Review: John Crane Branching Out Kitchen

ItsamummyslifeNot one to challenge early female stereotypes, I bought Eliza the John Crane Branching Out Petite Cuisine Kitchen for her birthday, I chose it after many nights research on the internet – who knew there were so many kitchens for children on the market? I knew I wanted a wooden one, call me shallow but they just look nicer and actually I suspect it will last longer which is good given Tilly is showing alot of interest in it already and you can see from this picture that they play TOGETHER, which is nothing short of miraculous (Eliza in her princess dress, naturally).
I have to say I was expecting it to be a total nightmare to construct, whilst him indoors watched offering ‘advice’ from the comfort of his chair I was all set to get in a right stew the likes of which is only normally seen when I’m trying to construct the travel cot (I bloody hate those things.).  But it was really simple.  It took me about 40 minutes but everything you need is included so it’s really pretty easy.
It’s beautifully made, the attention to detail is lovely, with the clock and the knobs for the oven.  It comes with a frying pan and a casserole dish, a salt & pepper mill and some ketchup, mayonnaise and mustard wooden bottles.  It also comes with wooden spoons you can hang up.
I got in touch with John Crane via their blog and they incredibly kindly sent me some other things to go with the kitchen including these lovely wooden ‘food’ crates. Winter vegetables (I have had many carrot stews, thanks Eliza) and Summer Fruits (the cherries are adorable with green string ‘stems’).

Also a box of Wooden Eggs that look really authentic.

The girls have had many hours making me food and having tea parties.  Tilly especially loves opening the cupboard and the ‘oven’ and putting all the food in the lovely bowls they sent us too.
I must say it really was worth the money. At £61 it’s well worth it in my opinion.
*All additional items other than the kitchen were provided free of charge by John Crane.*
